HEALTH INSURANCE FOR A CHILD

I do not know much about Health Insurance. I think it is soooo confusing. I thought I would pass on something I learned about my son's Health Insurance. As far as I understand if you are on a group plan (typically through an employer) then they charge you the same rate whether you have 1 child or 4 children it is the same or 5 or 6 or whatever. If you only have 1 child then it is a lot cheaper to put them on their own individual plan instead of having them on a group plan. I hope I am making sense. Here is my example...when we had our son we were going to add him to a group plan and it made our insurance go up about $240. Instead we put him on his very own individual plan through a different insurance provider and it only cost $100 for his insurance (which is great coverage) for a savings of $140 a month. I hope this helps someone out there. It is completely legit and acceptable through the insurance companies.

That is great to know... I'll have to look into that.

This is awesome to know. I was just looking at that the other day. We are going from the couple to family and it doubles our monthly premium. Would you mind if I emailed you and asked specifically what plan your son is on.

so glad you told us about this, we are paying almost $400/month for our insurance when before we were paying like $200. I will have to look into this! Thanks
