CHILDREN'S BOOKS

When it comes to knowing what children's books to buy or check out at the library I feel like I am at a loss sometimes. We were given "Goodnight Moon" and "The Going to Bed Book" when I was pregnant with my son. I am so glad that we got them because I would have never thought to buy them and my son loves them! I also recently found "How Do I Love You" by P.K. Hallinan. It is such a sweet book about unconditional love. I am excited to read some of the other books by this author.

**What are your favorite children's books (or your kid's)? I would love to hear...

Pk Hallinan has several books, Let's be Friends, Let's be Honest, My Daddy and I, My Mommy and I...my daughter LOVES them! Wonderful books! And as a first time mom (soon to be of 2) I know what you mean about not knowing which books to check out. Thankfully I have some great teachers in my life, literally, that give me pointers!

Hi Karen, I love children's books, and we have some great ones. Trey's favorites are: Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak, I'll Teach My Dog a Lot of Words by Michael Frith, Panda Bear, Panda Bear, What Do You See? by Bill Martin Jr/ Eric Carle, Is Your Mama a Llama? by Deborah Guarino. We like rhyming books!

First of all, I love your blog... a friend found you and shared it with me!

Children's books. I love them! I have a problem that I buy them all the time! Depending on what age you are looking for, I could tell you a bunch!

We love the Scholastic Books about Froggy! The Scholastic Book orders are wonderful. If you don't have kids in school yet, talk to the local school or preschool because you can always order with a teacher. I started early getting books so I could afford them. I also look for used books at yard sales, used book stores, or DI.

Other favorites: Hungry, Hungry Catipillar; I'll Love You Forever (all moms cry over that one!) and the Litttle Critter Books.

oh... and board books are the best for babies and toddlers!

The library where we used to live had book sales of their used books... they were $1 for hardcover books in great condition, so I bought over a hundred! It's nice now that I had a 7-month-old; we have lots of books to read and I don't care if he rips them because they cost next to nothing. I saw a shelf of books for sale at the library here, but I didn't look very closely, so I don't know much about it.

A really cute book we read today is called Nuts to You by Lois Ehlert. I also love the Berenstein Bears books because I grew up reading them. I guess the good thing about kids books is that you can check out a bunch and if they turn out to be stupid, you only wasted a couple minutes reading it :)

P.S. I read your post the other day about BPA. Real Simple has a good article explaining it: http://www.realsimple.com/realsimple/gallery/0,21863,1779534,00.html?xid=weeklynews

Two ADORABLE books are: "Let Me Hold You Longer" and "I Chose You." They are the kind that make mommies cry and make kids feel special. Good combo. I love the "Going to Bed Book." Savana had the ENTIRE thing memorized at 18 months old, so it holds some serious memories for us! So cute.

I really like "I'm gonna like me" by Jamie Lee Curtis. It's just a cute little book about kids liking themselves. It is not a board book, so it is better for toddlers, or just under parent supervision.
