FALL MINI SESSIONS BY JESSICA KETTLE

Jessica Kettle is an awesome Utah photographer. A lot of photographers are booked up for this fall to take family sessions for Christmas cards (including Jessica), but she has decided to do some Fall Mini Sessions where the sitting is for 30 min. on October 25th.

For you amateur photogs out there, Jessica just posted a bunch of answers to basic photography and photoshop questions. It is quite helpful. I love that she is willing to impart some of her knowledge and what she learned on her path to becoming a photographer.

BATTERY OPERATED TEA LIGHT

I am a little bit of a worry wart and the thought of placing some type of an open flame in a pumpkin or a paper bag just doesn't work for me. I was excited when I came across these battery operated tea lights. The one pictured changes through 7 rainbow colors but you can also buy plain battery operated tea lights that are cheaper and come in a 10 pack. I am sure you can buy them most anywhere but I found them at Bed Bath & Beyond.

TOYS R' US SALE

Right now Toys R' Us is having a sale where a lot of items are Buy 2, Get 1 Free. Some examples are all Melissa and Doug puzzles, Thomas Trains, Little People toys, etc. Now is a good time to start thinking about Christmas and Christmas gifts. I love the Little People Nativity above.

GENERAL CONFERENCE PACKET

The LDS Church has their General Conference coming up on Saturday and Sunday, October 4th and 5th. Twice a year the prophet and other leaders of our church speak to all of the members. It is very uplifting and wonderful but it is a challenge to keep the children's attention.

Sugardoodle.net has a FREE packet on their site that you can print for your children. They have a packet for younger children and older children. This is the same packet I linked last time, but hopefully it has been long enough your children won't mind! I haven't found a new version for this conference.

MOM SHOTS

I love photography. I have become quite obsessed with it since I had my son. That is why I had to get an SLR Camera so I could have good quality photos and a fast camera to get them. I love my camera so much, but I feel overwelmed by all of the amazing things it can do. I just discovered a website called Mom Shots. It is designed for those of us that just want decent pics. of our kids (or whatever subject) and need a little help and tips along the way.

HALLOWEEN PICS.

My cute high school friend is a Utah Photographer and is offering Halloween pictures of your kiddos for $99 (and you get the CD of the pics.). MY FOOD STORAGE DEALS

If you live in Utah, listen up. I have been subscribing to www.myfoodstoragedeals.com for a few months now and I have been saving a TON of money on my groceries. It is a very simple concept. She posts a list each week on the website with all of the deals for the main grocery stores in town. If the sale price is really good and worth stocking up on (meaning it is the same or less than Costco) then you would want to buy it. I have saved a lot of money but I have also been stocking up on the sale items. The past few weeks have been the Case Lot sale at Harmons and the lists tell you what Case Lot deals are really deals. It is so helpful. I love a bargain, but I have never been good at comparing and noticing grocery prices. It can be so overwelming. She also offers a meal planning option and gives you lots of tips and has a great blog where she answers all sorts of questions. THOMAS & FRIENDS THE GREAT DISCOVERY

Calling all Thomas lovers! The Great Discovery movie is in stores as of yesterday. I have heard that it is pretty cute and a little more action packed than the typical Thomas shows (that I really don't understand why kids love) and frankly get annoyed at how all the engines are not happy most of the time :)

AVENT MAKES BPA FREE BOTTLE

Avent has finally come out with a BPA Free bottle. As far as I can tell it is only available at Target right now. (Online or in stores). The way you will know they are BPA free is that they have a yellow tint and the box will clearly say BPA Free (as shown above). I think the BPA free come in a 2 pack where most other Avent bottles are in a 3 pack. And...they will be more expensive than the other Avent bottles.

NIE NIE DAY

Today has been declared Nie Nie Day throughout the blogging and internet world, specifically by Design Mom. Stephanie, the writer of the Nie Nie Dialogues blog was recently in a private airplane accident with her husband and a flight instructor. The instructor passed away and Stephanie and her husband were left in critcal condition with severe burns. They are both coming out of it but it will be a long road to recovery. I do not know her and had never read her blog until today but I have been so touched by all of the people reaching out to Stephanie and her family. Design Mom has decided to declare today Nie Nie Day and try to raise as much money as possible for Stephanie and her family to help cover the hospital bills and everything else coming their way. LINENS N' THINGS

Linens N' Things filed Chapter 11 and is restructuring. They are closing several stores across the country. Have you had any close in your area? I saw one in Murray and in Park City, Utah. I am sure it gets pretty picked over, but toward the end they mark everything down to 80-90% off. Keep an eye out in your area, you may just find some good deals.

The NY Post said, "Linens 'n Things has already announced two rounds of store closings. The first affected 120 of its 589 locations across 47 states. Earlier the company said it plans to close an additional 87 stores."

I personally don't know how they can compete with Bed Bath and Beyond. BB&B has always given cash back for returns and accepts expired coupons (2 things LNT does not do).

PETUNIA PICKLE BOTTOM

I have always loved the look of Petunia Pickle Bottom bags, but I couldn't justify having one because I knew the beautiful fabric just wouldn't hold up the way I would want it to. Well...now they make a glazed fabric that you can wipe clean and several of their bags can hang from your stroller handles. These are 2 requirements I have in a diaper bag (that it can wipe clean and hang from my stroller handles) so I am sold! UPDATE:

I went into my email and followed the tracking Walmart gave me and it showed me that it had been delivered yesterday. I went out to my mailbox and it was there! So...check your tracking online and then watch your mailboxes (or doorsteps as other commenters have posted)!

Awhile ago I posted that you could preorder Breaking Dawn through Walmart.com and you should receive it on or around August 2nd. Well...I still have not received it. Has anyone else had this problem?
